I-TECH has an outstanding opportunity for a
full-time Program Training Specialist. The Program Training Specialist reports
to the Senior Program Manager (SPM) to support the training development needs
of the South Africa program, including curriculum development, instructional
design, stakeholder communication, and project management. This position
collaborates with the team in South Africa, and local partners including the
Ministry of Health, to champion and guide special initiatives for the
development and delivery of high quality training interventions aimed at
strengthening the nation’s healthcare workforce and broader healthcare
system.

Project Management and Reporting
- Develop and lead training development activities in consultation with appropriate stakeholders.
- Establish and monitor work plans for training development needs; work with SPM to manage related budgets
- Lead the identification and management of technical resources including content experts, consultants, vendors, or subcontracts as they relate to training development program deliverables.
- Support Senior M&E Advisor with development of an evaluation plan for any training development activity.
- Under the guidance of the SPM and in-country program leadership, prepare progress reports to funders, and lead HQ based documentation of activities, spending, and results.
- Support Country Office staff in completing reports submitted to in-country donors.
- Develop and deliver reports and presentations effectively, conveying best practices and novel methodologies related to training and development.
- Contribute to the documentation and knowledge sharing of program results through articles, conference posters, web postings, and presentations.
Training Development
- Collaborate with South Africa team, Headquarters colleagues, and representatives of partner organizations to design and deliver appropriate training programs based on funder requests and assessed needs.
- Develop, implement and analyze needs assessments and training evaluations.
- Provide technical assistance on training design and methodologies from concept to implementation, based on instructional design principles.
- Develop and adapt curricula and training materials, or advise on the curriculum development process.
- Consult and coordinate with various content experts, technical working groups, clinical, and quality improvement staff throughout the development, review and piloting process.
- Provide mentoring and coaching to local staff in I-TECH Country Offices, partner organizations such as universities and ministries of health, and newly hired UW staff on training development as needed.
REQUIREMENTS AND DESIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education or related field with a minimum of 4 years of related work experience, to include roles in complex, multi-faceted programs. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for minimum education requirement.
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Instructional Design or related field, with emphasis on health-related training development experience.
- Familiarity with PEPFAR, global health, or development through international work experience. Experience developing training programs for health related professions in developing countries collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.
Additional Requirements:
- Knowledge of public health principles and practices relevant to addressing prevalent health issues in low resource settings.
- Project management experience related to public health program design and implementation.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of instructional design and adult learning.
- Experience in designing/developing; implementing; and evaluating training programs in cross-cultural settings.
- Ability to work effectively with clinicians, technical experts, and influential government officials.
- Experience successfully communicating with colleagues from a variety of cultural and technical backgrounds in a respectful and diplomatic manner.
- Exceptional writing and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to independently problem solve.
- Previous experience communicating technical information to non-technical audiences in a clear and compelling manner.
- Exceptional skill with Microsoft Word and Microsoft PowerPoint, and competency in Excel.
